India advises Nepal govt to resolve Tarai unrest politically

Nov 2, 2015- The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed concern over the death of an Indian national during a police firing at Birgunj on Monday. In a statement today, the MEA urged the government of Nepal to restraint from using force as the issues facing Nepal are ‘political in nature’. ''We are deeply concerned at reports coming in of firing today in Birgunj. An innocent Indian was also killed in the firing,” read the statement. India also said that it is advising its freight forwarders and transporters to exercise caution and not to put themselves in harm’s way. Indian freight forwarders and transporters have voiced their worries again today about the deteriorating situation across the border. The statement further read, “Causes underlying the present state of confrontation need to addressed by the Government of Nepal credibly and effectively,” adding that the India is monitoring the situation carefully.
